Reformer Pilates is a series of precise movements using assistive and resistive tension through springs and cables to tease and strengthen postural muscles both small and global. With the added use of props like the ball, ring and Smart bells you can up the intensity whilst burning calories and quickly start to strengthen and tone your body. All this but with lower impact on the body compared to the treadmill or Hiit classes.
Your abs, your triceps, your glutes and your inner thighs.. all these parts of the body which can lose tone are targeted through the Reformer Pilates routines.
Over the age of 40 running or high intensity exercise may not be the best solution for injury ridden bodies or sensitive joints. However the Reformer provides an overall challenging but less injury prone means of rewarding exercise which produces results.
For women post childbirth with the stress placed upon their bodies, backs and posture this is a perfect means of correcting, re-shaping and toning the body. Or with loss of body form and posture through years of sedentary desk work Reformer Pilates will help correct posture. It’s also worth remembering that over 40 strength and resistance training such as Reformer Pilates helps bone density and stave off conditions such as Osteoarthritis!
